1951 Hibok-Hibok Eruption

Written on

It's always a pleasure seeing glimpses of the lives in Camiguin from years long gone. I shared images of Camiguin Island taken sometime in the 50s a couple of months ago.

This weekend, I was supposed to take a 3-day trip around the island to take notes and photos for use in the site. Due to some unforeseen events, I had to cancel the trip. I'm sure to take before the end of the month.

In the meantime, here's another glimpse — in video — of the catastrophic explosion of Mount Hibok-Hibok as reported by British Pathé.

Mt. Timpoong-Hibok-Hibok was recently named an ASEAN Heritage Park. Heritage Parks are protected areas recognized for their uniqueness, diversity and outstanding value.
