How to Get to Camiguin from Cebu
There are several ways to get to Camiguin Island Philippines. While via CDO is the most common, an alternative route for tourists who came from the Visayas region are available.
There are two ways to get to Camiguin from Cebu: Direct and Via Bohol.
1. Direct
a. Plane: A 20-seater plane transits tourists from Cebu to Camiguin. This is, by far, the fastest route to reach the island. Its schedule is not fixed, though. The plane sked changes from once a week during off-peak seasons to three times a week during peak, festival or holy week days. If you’re interested, call your trusted Travel & Tours Company and have them checked out the available schedule for you.
b. Ferry: Once a week, a ferry from Cebu travels to Camiguin. Scheduled to depart from Cebu Port at 8 PM every Friday. The travel takes 12 hours. This is the most convenient and cheapest way to reach Camiguin Island. Ticket costs PHP 900. It travels back to Cebu every Sunday at 6 PM.
2. Via Bohol
Then there’s reaching Camiguin via Bohol. Taking the Bohol route means that you have to take another ferry from Cebu to Bohol. You can book a ticket from Cebu to Bohol at the Cebu Pier 4.
From Cebu you will arrive at Tagbilaran, Bohol. Outside the wharf are tricycles that will offer you a ride to Tagbilaran Bus Terminal. Then take a 1.5-hour bus ride from Tagbilaran to Jagna.
There are two ferries that travel from Jagna, Bohol to Camiguin: Paras Sea Cat and Shuttle Ferry.
Paras Sea Cat now accommodates passengers all day of the week except in Thursday. It departs Jagna at around 1:30 PM and usually takes around 2 hours to arrive in Benoni, Mahinog, Camiguin. Fare is PHP 500.
Shuttle Ferry departs from Jagna, Bohol at 1:00 PM daily. It takes, at least, 3 hours to reach Balbagon, Mambajao, Camiguin. Fare is PHP 380.
The “via Bohol route” is best for tourists who wants to experience Bohol before Camiguin. Bohol is best known for the Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, and its endemic population of cuddly marsupials – the tarsier.
